Peru approves an El Niño emergency plan for fishing and aquaculture
Ministerial Resolution 00322-2026-PRODUCE, dated 11 September, approves the Emergency Plan for Peru's fishing and aquaculture subsectors required by Supreme Decree 012-2026-PRODUCE, published on 23 August, which declared both subsectors in emergency for 120 calendar days over El Niño 2026–2027. The plan develops the decree's six action lines (scientific research, fishery management for "resources of opportunity", administrative and sanitary facilitation, payment facilities for fines, market promotion and access to financing) and adds two: capacity building and inter-agency coordination.
