IMARPE survey assesses anchoveta and other pelagic stocks during El Niño
IMARPE began hydroacoustic survey Cr. 2609-10 on 15 September along the Peruvian coast, from Puerto Pizarro (Tumbes) to Morro Sama (Tacna), out to 100 nautical miles, for about 23 days. Twenty fishing vessels from SNP and ANAP take part with IMARPE's research ship. The survey measures the biomass, distribution and size structure of anchoveta and other pelagic species, and will also record giant squid.
